I don't know about you all (and I suspect not for several of you) but I'm enjoying watching the Democrats implode. I'm fairly certain they won't destroy themselves completely, which is a pity, but it's still fun to watch them do McCain's work for him. I know a lot of you hope that Clinton doesn't leave the race, and neither do I. But then again, I want the self-destruction to keep going, so I guess I don't really have a good reason. Just a really, really hopeful reason. If the Democrats manage to destroy their party before the Convention, or at the Convention, we'll have a Republican in the White House for another four years. Maybe not the Republican I wanted, but better McCain then Clinton or Obama And you know, before all this went down, I was sure the Democrats had a lock on this year's election. So I'm really enjoying the nomination battle. Yes, I'm unapologetically Republican. Tags: politics

What does it take to get an internship? Seriously! I have been searching since October, heavily searching since January, and what do I have to show for it? An unpaid internship at my Dad’s work as a fallback. And I only got that because the marketing director needs someone to do research, but can’t justify paying someone. Nothing else. No one wants to hire me, not with the economy the way it is. I need a paid internship if I want to be able to afford things. I’ve been dipping into my savings a lot this year, to help pay tuition and rent. Yes, it was planned that way- the savings were for my master’s degree- but I am still losing a good deal of my safety net. I was certain that I’d be able to build it back up over the summer with a paid internship. I’m depressed, because I just got another call from an interviewer saying that they weren’t going to offer me a position. I’ve probably spent seventy five hours this calendar year searching for a summer internship, which is a requirement of my degree program. (I count applying, going to job fairs, and interviews as part of that number). If I’ve spent that much time with nothing to show for it, what’s going to happen when I start a full-time job search in September? Tags: job hunt
